Ingredients

Peanut Butter Yogurt Dip
  • 1 cup plain lowfat Greek yogurt Use a thick, unsweetened Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup smooth peanut butter Stir natural peanut butter thoroughly before measuring
  • 1 tablespoon honey Adjust to taste if desired
Optional Additions and Dippers
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon Optional
  • fresh fruit, pretzels, crackers, or celery Optional, for serving

Equipment

  • Small mixing bowl
  • Whisk or sturdy spoon
  • Silicone spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Kitchen scale
  • Airtight storage container

Method

  1. Add the Greek yogurt, peanut butter, and honey to a small mixing bowl.
  2. Whisk for 45 to 60 seconds, scraping the bottom and sides of the bowl as needed.
  3. Continue mixing until the dip is smooth and no separate streaks of peanut butter remain.
  4. Taste the dip and stir in the optional cinnamon, if desired.
  5. Serve immediately or refrigerate for 15 to 30 minutes for a slightly firmer texture.
  6. Serve with apple slices, banana slices, strawberries, pretzels, graham crackers, celery, or another preferred dipper.

Notes

Use plain Greek yogurt rather than flavored yogurt so you can control the sweetness.
Stir natural peanut butter thoroughly before measuring to prevent the dip from becoming oily or uneven.
If the dip is too thin, mix in additional thick Greek yogurt one spoonful at a time. If it is too thick, whisk it longer or add a small spoonful of Greek yogurt.
For a less-sweet version, reduce or omit the honey. Pure maple syrup may replace the honey by volume, although the flavor and nutrition will change.
A small amount of unsweetened cocoa powder can be mixed into the finished dip for a chocolate variation. Add extra Greek yogurt if the cocoa makes the mixture too thick.
Store the dip in a covered container in the refrigerator at 40°F or below. For best quality, use it within 3 to 4 days.
Keep fruit, pretzels, crackers, and other dippers in separate containers so they do not become soggy.
Freezing is not recommended because yogurt-based dips may separate or become grainy after thawing.
